Fitting
All you need to know about fitting your Rock n Roll Bed.
Before Fitting
We recommend that you insulate with Therma-Foil insulation, nothing too thick. Ply line and lay your floor covering in your vehicle before the Rock n Roll Bed is fitted. It can be tricky trying to lay floor covering around a Rock n Roll bed once it has been fitted. If you are starting from scratch, we recommend at least 12mm ply floor and 6mm on the side panels. We also recommend that you do not batten your vehicle, especially the floor; battening with ply in between the corrugated floor to make it level is OK. Battening with roof lath and creating space between vehicle floor and ply floor is not OK.
We advise all our customers to have their Rock n Roll Bed fitted first, before purchasing or fitting cupboards. Otherwise you run the risk of either the bed not fitting in or the cupboard doors being in the wrong position and not being able to access them properly. Before you buy or make cupboards for your new conversion, please bear this in mind.
Please Note: If your van already has cupboards fitted, we strongly advise that you take measurements. Please follow these instructions to accurately measure for your Rock n Roll Bed:
Measure 50cm from your rear door rubber towards the front of your vehicle. At this point, measure up the passenger side 102cm high. This is the point where you need to take the measurement for the width of the bed from side to side because this is where the top of the frame comes to and it is where your vehicle curves in slightly. This measurement will determine the width of the Rock n Roll Bed that will fit.
Please note: Measurements are given as guidance only. Streamline Auto-Beds Ltd do not accept responsibility for beds not fitting.
If you are unsure that you have enough space, please call us prior to ordering.
Our Fitting Procedure
All our Rock n Roll Beds are fitted on top of any flooring which has been laid.
Our MOT compliant bed is fitted by drilling 4 holes through the vehicle floor. Spare wheel is dropped and plastics on early T5’s are dropped. The bed is fixed with 4 high tensile zinc plated bolts, 5mm spreader plates and locking nuts. Please allow 1 hour for fitting.
Our M1 tested bed is fitted through the vehicle floor with H Frame that fits over the cross member or L Plate that lips up to the cross member, depending on the vehicle. Spare wheel is dropped and plastics on early T5’s are dropped. Please allow up to one and a half hours for fitting.

Fitting Costs
We offer a FREE FITTING service.
Terms and conditions for FREE FITTING:
Ply floor must be in place and the vehicle needs to be clear of all obstructions, e.g. cupboards, other seating, speakers, leisure batteries, electrics, heaters, luggage, tools etc. floor runners or risen bolts.
Fitting only means that the bed is fitted in the standard position at the rear of the van, (passenger side if 3/4 bed), free from obstructions.
During our busy periods we cannot fit the bed in any other position or remove obstructions to make the bed fit. It is the customer’s responsibility to make sure the vehicle is ready and prepared prior to fitting.
If the bed is to be fitted in a different position other than stated above, this will have to be the customer’s responsibility and a fixing kit will be supplied. The bed will be on a supply only basis unless previously agreed prior to booking.
If cupboards are fitted to the vehicle prior to the fitting of the Rock n Roll Bed, it is the customers’ own responsibility to check measurements. We do not accept responsibility if the bed does not fit and we will not be able to make it fit.
TO QUALIFY FOR FREE FITTING YOUR SPARE WHEEL MUST BE DROPPED. LEAVE IT IN YOUR VAN AND OUR FITTERS WILL PUT IT BACK UP FOR YOU WHEN THEY HAVE FINISHED FITTING.
** FAILURE TO DROP YOUR SPARE WHEEL WILL RESULT IN FITTING BEING CHARGEABLE **
Streamline Auto-Beds Ltd reserve the right to refuse a fitting in the following circumstances:
- Bare metal floor without any lining.
- Battened floor; battening with roof lath, creating space between vehicle floor and ply floor.
- Heavily insulated floor, e.g. Kingspan.
- Obstructions; cupboards, other seating, leisure batteries, speakers, electrics, heaters, floor runners, risen bolts, luggage or tools etc.
- Spare wheel seized on or locking wheel nut key not provided.
We will assess if it is possible for the fitting to take place, depending on what the issue is and whether we have time available. This will be chargeable at a rate of £50+VAT per hour per person.
We understand that sometimes our customers are delayed due to unforeseen traffic situations. Please be aware that we work on set time slots and where possible we will accommodate for this.
Even though we are open until 4.30pm Monday to Friday, we need to allow time for fitting.
Cut off time for fitting in these circumstances is 3.00pm
Past this point the bed can still be collected up to half an hour prior to our closing times and will be supplied with fixing kit and instructions for the customer to arrange own fitting.

Fitting Instructions
Please use the Fixing Kit supplied by us and follow the appropriate Fitting Instructions & Diagrams.
Fitting Instructions for 3/4 Width Easi-Lift Rock n Roll Beds
You may find it easier and lighter to remove the cushions, although it is not necessary. They are just screwed onto the frame using brackets. Pull the bed down into the sleeping position and look underneath. You will see that it is a fairly easy job to remove them. Slide the cushions off rather than lifting straight up and out because they could get damaged on the side hinge bolts if you are too heavy handed. If not, leave them on.
Pull the bed down into sleeping position. Please be aware that the Easi-lift Pedal will spring up at the front right hand side of the bed. If you are fitting the Full Width Bed or you already have cupboards fitted down one side for the 3/4 Bed, then lift into van diagonally. It will take two people. Now position the bed. The best way to do this is to pull up into seating position. If fitting the Full Width Bed, position it as close to the rear opening as you can, allowing for the rear cushion. If fitting the 3/4 bed, position it as close to the rear opening and bring as close to the side of the van as you can, allowing for the cushions. The cut-out/s on the rear of the bed will help you to judge how far back to go. It is approx. 8″ to 9″ from the back door rubber to the edge of the base frame.
Lower the spare wheel underneath the van (if T5, also lower plastics underneath). Make sure you are happy with the position of the bed; it is lined up and looks straight. Replace the rear cushion if it has been removed and check it fits BEFORE you drill the holes. Using the pre- drilled holes in the base frame, drill down through the floor of the van using a 10 or 12mm drill bit. Bolt down with fixing kit, using the spreader plates on the underneath of the van before tightening up the nut. Now place the cushions back on, being careful not to damage them on the side hinge bolts. Slide them in rather than dropping them in from the top to avoid damaging. Screw the cushions back on.
We hope you enjoy your new Streamline Rock n Roll Bed.

The best way to do this is to pull up into seating position and bring as close to the rear of the van as you can, allowing for the cushions. The rear cut-outs will help you judge how far back to go.
